Under the baton of Valery Gergiev, the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra performs the overture from G. Verdi's La forza del destino, a Polka by J. Strauss Jr., N. Rimsky-Korsakov's Capriccio Espagnol, mvt. 2 of S. Rachmaninoff's Symphony no. 2, I. Stravinsky's Firebird, and A. Borodin's Polovtsian Dances. Pianist Yefim Bronfman joins them for F. Liszt's Piano Concerto no. 2 and Yuri Bashmet (alto) joins them for the finale of H. Berlioz's Harold in Italy.
